bedoc, a not-for-profit social enterprise, is committed to providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients registered with GP Practices in Bedford, Ivel Valley, Leighton Buzzard, and West Mid Beds. Our mission is to enhance access to healthcare and improve the well-being of the communities we serve. We have successfully delivered a range of vital services:
MENOPAUSE

Dedicated clinics provide specialised care for patients experiencing menopause symptoms.

PHLEBOTOMY

Collaborating with Clinical Commissioners, we provided 1000's of additional blood test appointments to support our local hospital and reduce waiting times for patients.

GP PRACTICE 'CARETAKERS'

Following the merger of two practices; bedoc ensured continuity of care for registered patients by providing full Primary Care GP services from new premises for approximately 2 years.

Acute Respiratory Infection Hub

To support the local healthcare system during winter months, we offered same-day 'in-person' appointments to patients with acute respiratory infection symptoms. The service received strong utilisation and support from local clinicians.

OUT OF HOURS

(urgent care) Our highly regarded and responsive out-of-hours urgent care service offered essential medical assistance outside regular clinic hours.

DERMATOLOGY

Our dermatology services catered to patients' skin health needs.

COMPLEX CARE

Our innovative multidisciplinary team delivered proactive and preventative healthcare support to patients in Care and Nursing Homes in Bedford and Ivel Valley.

GP/NURSE HOME VISITING SERVICE

(Winter pressures): To alleviate pressure on general practice during peak times, we provided an 'in-hours' home visiting service.

WHZAN

We introduced a remote monitoring service for care homes, enhancing resident care and safety.

HYDRATION PILOT SCHEME

Our efforts reduced UTI admissions by implementing a successful hydration pilot scheme.

FALLS TRAINING

We provided essential falls training to care home staff, aiming to prevent falls among residents.

CORONAVIRUS HELPLINE

In collaboration with 111, we supported with the Coronavirus helpline, offering valuable information and assistance.

COVID VACCINATION SERVICE

In response to the pandemic, bedoc administered over 106,000 Covid vaccinations to the most vulnerable residents of Bedford. We facilitated appointments at two sites and also reached out to housebound patients, homeless shelters, and residential homes to ensure vaccination accessibility for all ages.

COVID RED ZONE

Partnering with GP Surgeries, we provided appointments for patients suspected of having Covid, maintaining 'clean' sites to protect vulnerable patients and staff.

DRESSING CLINIC

To accommodate wound care and dressing changes during evenings and weekends, we offer convenient appointments at our clinic.
